Bike Check

img_1434
Built up this beast of a 29+ recently for smashing around the woods and bike packing… It’s a tank! I have since upgraded the wheels for Hope Pro 4 Hubs and CX Rays with the same Stans Hugo Rims and it’s now set up tubeless using stans tape and sealant. I drilled the seat tube on the non-drive side near the base of the tube to accommodate internal dropper post routing… The tubes being 4130 butted means they’re plenty strong enough to take a 5mm hole without problems… We’ve figured out that you can run a short cage Zee mech with an 11-42T sunrace 10sp cassette without the need for a longer B-Screw which offers a massive wide range if you want to only run a single ring up front (The Hunt is built to be run single ring only)

SBC-SurlyKarateMonkey-4

We built this single speed 29er for Mark a while ago and just realized we forgot to blog it!

Surly Karate Monkey Special Ops. Love the orange lacquer over the raw steel!
Gusset 44mm Mix n Match headset so you can run a tapered suspension fork if you want.
Chinese Carbon Bars, Stem and Post. Cheap weight saving if you trust it 😉
Continental X-King Tyres for a bit of an all-rounder
Dt Swiss Wheels M1900
Shimano Deore Brakes
Shimano Zee Crank
KMC Chain
Gusset SS Cog
Madison Flux Saddle

Switch the drop outs and it’ll take a geared drive chain. The 44mm headtube and 1-1/2″ bottom headset cup mean it’ll take a tapered suspension fork easily too.
The wheels also come with interchangeable axles/end caps, so can be switched between QR or Through axle in seconds.

We built this Surly Straggler for Andrew as a super comfortable solid commuter and potential tourer.

Raleigh True Built wheels
Panaracer Pasela 37c tyres
Shimano deore groupset
Avid BB5 disc brakes
brand x bars
Madison Flux saddle
Axiom rack
VP sealed pedals
Pit lock security skewers
Kryptonite mini Dlock

This is Bobby’s insane Chromed Surly Pugsley – Full bike check over at SKULL BIKE CLUB

We built this surly for Bleddyn a couple of months before opening the shop. Its already well used and looking nice and ratty.

We used his old wheels, Hope pro 2 to Hplus Archetype
His old cranks off his fixed gear, Raceface Decadence with a wide narrow 44T chainring.
His old seatpost and brooks saddle.
We sourced a old 25.4 thomson stem off ebay and used a xlt touring bar for a comfy bar position with odi lock on grips.
Tyres are our favourite tan wall 35c Panaracer Pasela and sks mudgaurds.
Avid V-brakes with Kool Stop Salmon pads.
Xpedo pedals.

Favourite part is the drive setup.
11-36 cassette with a Shimano Zee clutch mech and XT shifter. It gives you enough range for commuting and is lighter and looks cleaner than running a front mech or chainguide.
